I bought this from target last night on 1/24/2011. It was $60, this is quite a pricey investment for me for a baby monitor. So I came home and went online to check the reviews. I told my wife, "Uh oh" we're going to need to return this. 7 bad reviews vs 1 good review. But I decided to turn it on and see if it would work. Voila, it's an awesome baby monitor. Digital clear audio transmission. I can use the intercom button to speak to my kids. Everything works wonderfully. Since I've only had this for 1 day, I'll write again if it happens to fail in the next couple of months.
Audio transmission: 9/10. (Volume is a bit low, doesn't go high enough for my taste.
Distance: Sorry not tested yet, but I was able to work on my car on the driveway while my baby slept inside. Temporary score of 8/10.
Ease of use: 8/10. Mine didn't come with instruction manual. But I figured everything out. I think this might be the reason why others couldn't get it to work. Without the instruction manual some people might not know how to turn on the child unit. There's a button on the bottom with the power on/off symbol.
Features: 10/10. It gives me more features than what I expect from a plain old baby monitor. Temperature reading is awesome. Night light is awesome (dual settings too, high and low.) Vibration don't think I'll use but nice to have around. Intercom was the feature that sold me to this product, very useful if you have older kids (3+ years old.)
OVERALL: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this baby monitor. Avoid $20 analog baby monitors, it will break in a year, and then you will have to buy another one. Do it right the first time, and buy a quality product that will last for years.

In all fairness - the first set we bought was defective. It vibrated no matter what (on/off, ac/battery). It had to be returned, but the features it had (digital, temp display, intercom, frequency/distance) combined with the fact that is so much less expensive then a similar product, I gave it another go. We have had this second one now for approx 4 months. Zero problems. The volume is more then enough for us, we usually only have it on 2 or 3 bars and can still hear our son just fine, any higher and you can hear the baby breathing. If it does drop out, which happens rarely, it beeps to let you know and 99% of the time picks up again without needing to be turned off and back on. I've never had to switch a channel on it - crystal clear. The battery lasts all day and then some, we always charge it at night so I don't know how long it lasts past that. I can clip this on and go outside with my older kids and it still has perfect reception. My daughter messes with the unit from time and time and its taken a spill a few times and it keeps on going. Our home is laid out so that our son is on the second floor, furtherest room down the hall, we're on the first floor and the complete opposite side of the house to boot - no reception failures. We bought this to replace a video monitor from Summer that we had, loved it but it couldn't come through without massive static with all the distance/walls, etc. I'm glad that I bought this before seeing so many negative reviews because I'd have gone with a monitor 3x the price (and be none the wiser for it I suppose!), I felt compelled to give our experience with it - for the money and features it can't be beat.
